Eating Out

Silay does not have a large restaurant scene, but the local specialties are worth seeking out. The city has a strong tradition of Negrense cuisine — sweet, rich, and heavily influenced by Spanish techniques adapted to tropical ingredients. Sans rival cake (a meringue and buttercream layered confection), chicken inasal, and kare-kare made with local vegetables are local standards. The Mercado Municipal near the plaza has cooked food stalls that open in the morning and serve until midday.
