Entertainment City

Entertainment City is a 120-hectare reclaimed land development along Manila Bay that has become the Philippines' answer to Macau. Four massive integrated resorts occupy the strip: Solaire Resort and Casino, City of Dreams Manila, Okada Manila, and Westside City (still expanding). Together they hold the largest concentration of casino floor space in Southeast Asia outside of Macau and Singapore.

The resorts are worth visiting for the spectacle alone. Okada Manila's centrepiece is a vast indoor atrium with a dancing fountain and a wave pool; City of Dreams has a Nobu hotel and a rotating roster of international restaurants and nightlife. The architecture is deliberately excessive, which makes it genuinely interesting — standing at the bayfront walkway at sunset, with the resorts lit up behind you and the bay stretching to the horizon, is one of Manila's more cinematic moments.

Admission to the casino floors is free for non-Filipinos. Filipinos must show a valid ID and pay an entrance fee, a rule designed to discourage problem gambling among locals.
