Saint Ferdinand Cathedral — locally known as Lucena Cathedral — is the seat of the Diocese of Lucena and the spiritual anchor of the city. The twin-towered façade in cream and ochre faces onto a modest plaza that doubles as the city's social centre on feast days and Sunday mornings. The current structure was substantially rebuilt in the twentieth century, but a church has stood on this site since the Spanish colonial period; the original parish dates to the seventeenth century.
Inside, the nave is light and high-ceilinged, with stained glass throwing coloured patches across the tiled floor. The cathedral is the focal point of the Pasayahan sa Lucena city fiesta in May, when the square fills with processions, brass bands, and street food vendors.
