Araneta City, built around the historic Smart Araneta Coliseum and Gateway Mall, is the commercial centre of Cubao and one of the busiest transit hubs in Metro Manila. The Coliseum — a large domed arena that has hosted Manny Pacquiao fights, boxing world championships, and concerts by artists from Frank Sinatra to Taylor Swift — remains one of the great mid-century venues in Southeast Asia.
The mall and arena complex around it has grown into a full entertainment district with cinemas, restaurants, and event spaces. It is not a tourist sight in the conventional sense, but the Coliseum itself is interesting for the history embedded in its walls — the "Thrilla in Manila" was not fought here, but practically every major boxing event in Philippine history has been.
The Cubao LRT and MRT interchange is right beside the complex, making it the natural entry point for Cubao Expo a short walk away on General Romulo Avenue.
