EDSA Shrine

EDSA Shrine, formally the Shrine of Mary, Queen of Peace, is both a chapel and a monument to the 1986 People Power Revolution. It was designed by Francisco Manosa and stands near the Ortigas stretch of EDSA, one of the symbolic centres of the demonstrations that ended the Marcos dictatorship.

The shrine is worth a short stop for its political meaning as much as its architecture. It is easiest to visit while moving through Ortigas or the eastern side of Quezon City.
