The best local buys are food products: buko (young coconut) pie from the pasalubong shops around the city is the signature item to take home. Coconut-based sweets, budin (local rice cake), and Liliw slippers (from the nearby town famous for handmade footwear) are also worth picking up.
SM City San Pablo, off the Maharlika Highway, is the main modern mall with around 200 shops, a supermarket, cinemas, and food court. The San Pablo City Shopping Center on Bonifacio Street has local clothing, footwear, and handicrafts. The Sulyap Gallery Cafe in the old town doubles as an antiques shop with wood carvings, religious icons, and Filipino folk art.
