The dry season (November to April) is the best time to visit. The weather is hot and sunny, and the lakes and outdoor activities are at their most appealing. The coolest months are December to February. The wet season (May to October) brings heavy monsoon rains — still manageable for short visits, and the countryside is at its greenest. The Coco Festival in mid-January is the city's major annual event.
