Hankook Jib

Hankook Jib is one of the oldest and most respected bibimbap restaurants in Jeonju, operating in the Hanok Village area for decades. The restaurant serves the classic Jeonju-style bibimbap in both the traditional earthenware bowl and the heated stone dolsot version — the stone bowl creates a crispy rice crust at the bottom (nurungji) that many regulars consider the best part.

The space is simple: low tables, cushions on the floor in the traditional seated style, and an open kitchen where you can watch the bowls being assembled with seasonal vegetables, seasoned meat, and a fresh egg. Side dishes (banchan) are numerous and refilled without charge. Service is brisk and the restaurant fills quickly at lunch — arrive before noon or after two o'clock to avoid a wait.

Hankook Jib has been written up in several Korean food guides as one of the essential Jeonju dining experiences. It is a genuine local institution rather than a tourist trap, and the food consistently rewards the reputation.
