A Buddhist temple in the mountains north of Busan, around 1,500 years old though rebuilt several times after fire and Japanese invasions. Despite being only a few kilometres from the city it feels genuinely remote — forested hillsides, stone lanterns, quiet courtyards.
Take the subway to Beomeosa station, then a taxi up the hill (cheaper and easier than the bus). Allow a couple of hours to explore properly.
