The Houfeng Bikeway is a flat, family-friendly cycle path that runs along a disused railway line from Houli to Fengyuan in the north of Taichung. The route is about ten kilometres each way and crosses the Dajia River on a converted steel railway bridge with the bicycle deck added below the original tracks.
Rental bikes are available at both ends. The combination of the long disused tunnel near Houli and the river bridge make the trip more than just a flat ride. Allow half a day with cafés and stops.
