Jingzaijiao Tile-paved Salt Fields

Restored Qing-era salt fields in Beimen, where broken pottery tiles once helped crystallise sea salt.

Jingzaijiao Tile-paved Salt Fields are a reminder that Tainan's coast was shaped by salt as much as temples and snacks. The fields date back to the Qing period, and the square pans lined with broken pottery tiles are now restored as a hands-on heritage landscape.

The site is out in Beimen, so it works best as part of a coastal loop rather than a quick central-city stop. Late afternoon is the most atmospheric time, when the white salt, shallow water, and low sun make the old industry unexpectedly photogenic.
