Zhongli Night Market

Large night market in Zhongli district with a notable Southeast Asian food section

The Zhongli Night Market is one of the larger night markets in northern Taiwan, spread across several streets in the Zhongli district to the south of central Taoyuan. It has all the standard Taiwanese night market fare — stinky tofu, oyster omelets, grilled corn, bubble tea — but it also has something unusual: a significant Southeast Asian section catering to the large migrant worker population in the area.

This section, sometimes called the "foreign workers' market," features authentic Vietnamese, Indonesian, Thai, and Filipino food stalls that are genuinely different from what you find elsewhere in Taiwan. Banana leaf rice, pho, and Indonesian satay sit alongside Taiwanese classics. It runs on weekends and is most lively from about 6pm until midnight. Zhongli is about 15 minutes south of central Taoyuan by train.
