Within Taoyuan city, buses are the main public transport option, though the network is not easy to navigate without a data connection and a maps app. The Airport MRT connects the airport with central Taoyuan and onward to Taipei. For day trips to Daxi, Longtan, and other outlying districts, local buses run but frequency is low — renting a scooter or taking taxis gives much more flexibility. The TaiwanBike (YouBike) bike share system operates in the city center.
For reaching Zhongli and other Taiwan Railway Authority stations, the regular TRA train is reliable and inexpensive. The High Speed Rail (HSR) station is in the Taoyuan HSR district, connected to the city center by free shuttle.
