Kamphaeng Phet is best treated as a cycling or slow-walking ruin day. The historical park covers the walled town and forest monastery zones. Within it, Wat Phra Kaeo is the central royal temple, Wat Chang Rop is the great elephant-base chedi on the hill, and the Kamphaeng Phet National Museum gives useful context before or after the ruins.
