Songthaew (baht bus) — dark blue pickup trucks with bench seating — are the main local transport. They run fixed routes for 10 baht; flag one down on Beach Road and it will drop you anywhere along its route. Motorbike taxis (identifiable by coloured vests) are faster for short trips: 30-50 baht. Tuk-tuks exist but tend to be priced for tourists. Renting a motorbike or bicycle gives the most freedom. The resort areas are compact enough to walk between, though the heat makes longer stretches uncomfortable.
