From Bangkok, the most popular option is the air-conditioned bus from the Eastern Bus Terminal (Ekamai) — departures every 30 minutes from 5am to 10pm, about 2.5 hours, fare around 77 baht. Minibus taxis from the airport (Suvarnabhumi) take 90 minutes to 2 hours. A single daily train runs from Bangkok's Hualamphong station at 7am and takes around 5 hours — slow, but cheap and an experience. The nearby U-Tapao airport receives Bangkok Airways flights from Koh Samui and a few international routes.
