Pattaya's main draws are its beaches and the offshore island of Ko Larn, but there is more beyond the beach road. The Sanctuary of Truth is genuinely extraordinary — a vast teakwood temple decorated entirely in hand-carved mythological figures, still under construction after decades. Nong Nooch Tropical Garden, 15km south, hosts traditional Thai dance performances and an elephant show alongside impressive landscaped grounds. Jomtien Beach (2km south of the main strip) is calmer and better for swimming. Ko Larn, 45 minutes by speedboat, has cleaner water and good snorkelling.
