Nong Khai's big draw is Sala Kaew Ku, the bizarre sculpture park on the edge of town, but there is more here than concrete deities. The Mekong riverfront is perfect for a late-afternoon walk, the Tha Sadet market is one of Isaan's best for browsing, and the surrounding countryside holds some genuinely unusual historical sites.
