About 60 km west of Mae Sariang, Salawin National Park stretches along a stretch of the Salawin River that forms the border with Myanmar. The park covers steep, forested hills above the riverbank — wild country, sparsely populated, and rarely visited.
The usual approach is by songthaew to the riverside village of Ban Mae Sam Laep, then by longtail boat from the pier into the park. Boats can be hired by the hour or for the day. The headquarters has a few basic bungalows for overnight stays.
