Tha Pai Hot Springs

Tha Pai Hot Springs are located about 8 kilometres southeast of Pai town within the Huai Nam Dang National Park. The mineral-rich springs have been developed into a small park with several artificial pools of varying temperatures, a stream, and shade trees. It is a popular stop on the standard motorbike loop south of town, often combined with a visit to Pai Canyon.

The most pleasant approach is to come in the morning when the air is cool and the steam from the hot vents is most visible. A café and changing facilities are on site. Admission is charged by the national park. The setting is pleasant — forested hills on all sides, a small stream — and it rarely gets crowded outside Thai holidays.

A story
The hot springs at Tha Pai reach temperatures of up to 80°C in their natural state — hot enough to boil eggs, which vendors at the entrance will demonstrate and sell to you. The pools open to bathers are cooled to a comfortable range, but the source vents steam visibly in the cool-season mornings, making the scene look considerably more dramatic than the temperature would suggest.
