Amasya does not have its own airport. The nearest airports are at Samsun (about 130 km north) and Tokat (about 110 km southeast); both have domestic connections to Istanbul and Ankara. From either airport, a taxi or bus to Amasya takes about 2 hours.
By bus, Amasya is well connected to Ankara (around 5–6 hours), Samsun (2 hours), Tokat, and Sivas. Most long-distance buses use the otogar (bus station) on the outskirts of town; minibuses or taxis cover the last kilometre into the centre. By train, Amasya has a station on the Samsun–Sivas line, but services are infrequent and the journey times are long compared to bus connections.
The easiest approach from western Turkey is Ankara, from which Amasya is manageable as a long day trip or a more comfortable overnight stay.
