Yıldız Hamam

Historic riverside hamam beside Hatuniye Mosque in Amasya's old Ottoman quarter.

Yıldız Hamam sits in Hatuniye, close to the Yeşilırmak river and the line of old timber houses that gives Amasya much of its charm. It is also known as Hatuniye Hamamı or Çukur Hamamı, and it belongs to the same historic riverside quarter as Hatuniye Mosque and Hazeranlar Konağı.

This is not the city's grandest monument, but it adds a useful layer to a walk through old Amasya. The bathhouse shows how Ottoman civic life clustered around mosques, mansions, markets, and water, and it is worth pausing for if you are already following the riverbank below the Pontic tombs.
