Getting There

Bursa has no airport. Most visitors arrive from Istanbul, which is about 2.5 hours away by the most common route: a fast ferry (dentur or IDO) from Istanbul's Yenikapı or Kabataş terminal to Mudanya or Güzelyalı, then a bus or dolmuş into the city centre. The ferry crossing takes about 75 minutes and the bus onward another 30–45 minutes. This is the most scenic approach.

Alternatively, buses run from Istanbul's Esenler or Harem bus stations, crossing the Bosphorus Bridge or the Osmangazi Bridge over the Gulf of Izmit. The journey takes 3–4 hours depending on traffic. Direct buses also connect Bursa to Ankara (about 5 hours), Izmir (5 hours), and other major cities.

There is no direct train service to Bursa. The nearest train connection is at Bandırma (on the Izmir–Istanbul line), from which buses run to Bursa.
