Bursa rewards wandering. The early Ottoman monuments in the city centre are among the best-preserved of their kind anywhere, and the Koza Han district around the Grand Mosque is a place where you can spend hours without noticing. Outside the city, Uludag offers skiing in winter and hiking in summer, accessible by cable car.
The Green Mosque and Green Tomb are the two buildings most worth your time — their Iznik tilework is as fine as anything in Istanbul. The Grand Mosque with its twenty domes and famous calligraphic pool sits at the heart of the old city. For Ottoman-era bazaar culture, the Koza Han is a beautifully preserved 15th-century caravanserai still trading in silk and jewellery. The Irgandi Bazaar Bridge is a rare Ottoman covered bridge with workshops built into the arches.
Uludag rises dramatically behind the city to 2,543 metres. The Bursa Cable Car runs from Teferrüç up to the ski resort, with tremendous views. The Bursa City Museum in the old municipal building gives context to the city's Ottoman and pre-Ottoman layers.
