Göreme's restaurant scene has improved considerably as the town has grown. The better places cluster on and just off the main street; most serve Turkish staples — pide, kebap, meze — alongside pottery kebab, the local speciality in which lamb or chicken is cooked and served in a sealed clay pot that the waiter cracks at the table.
