Dalaman River Rafting

The Dalaman River offers some of the best white-water rafting in Turkey, with a 14-kilometre stretch of Class III–IV rapids passing through forested gorges. The trip is suitable for beginners with a guide — most runs are arranged through tour operators in Fethiye, Dalyan, Dalaman, or Marmaris, with pickup from your hotel and all equipment provided. The season runs from April to October.

The scenery in the gorge is excellent: steep limestone walls, clear water, and forest right to the riverbank. The experience is genuinely exhilarating in the faster sections and peaceful in the calmer stretches between rapids. A half-day trip is the standard format; longer kayaking expeditions are available for those who want more.

A story
The Dalaman River drains much of the Taurus Mountains, gathering water from a vast catchment before cutting through limestone gorges on its way to the Mediterranean. The rafting section passes through the Köyceğiz district, where the river narrows and accelerates through channels that the Romans used as a trade route. Modern rafters cover in two hours what Roman merchants took all day to navigate.
