Eskişehir packs more into a single day than most provincial Turkish cities, mostly because its student population has kept it inventive. The Ottoman quarter of Odunpazarı — restored wooden houses climbing a hillside — is the obvious draw, together with the Kengo Kuma-designed Odunpazarı Modern Museum. Beyond that the city offers a wax museum, a meerschaum museum, a typewriter museum, several mosques, and the riverside cafes along the Porsuk.
