When to Go

Eskişehir has a continental climate — bright cold winters with occasional snow, and warm dry summers softened by the river. Spring (April–May) and autumn (September–October) are the best times to visit, when temperatures sit comfortably in the high teens to mid-twenties and the riverside cafes are at their busiest.

Summer in July and August is hot but not punishing — Eskişehir's elevation helps — and the evenings cool down quickly. Winter visits are pleasant for the museums and cafes but the surrounding steppe gets bleak. If you can time it, the city's main street festivals fall around the late spring and the university graduations in early June.
