Çalış is a 5 km pebble-and-sand beach stretching north from Fethiye along the bay. It is the town's main beach — less spectacular than Ölüdeniz but much more accessible, with a promenade lined with restaurants and bars behind it. The sunsets here are genuinely beautiful, with the sun dropping behind the islands of the bay.
The beach is a nesting site for loggerhead sea turtles (Caretta caretta), and the stretch near the wetlands at the northern end is protected during nesting season. Dolmuş minibuses connect Çalış to Fethiye centre every few minutes, or you can take the water taxi from the harbour. The beach shelves gently and the water stays shallow for a long way out, making it good for families.
