Rüstem Paşa Mosque is Tekirdağ's strongest Ottoman architectural sight, built for the grand vizier Rüstem Pasha and associated with Mimar Sinan's 16th-century building programme. Its proportions are restrained rather than showy, but the mosque anchors the historic centre with real architectural pedigree.
Visit it as part of a walk through central Tekirdağ, especially if you are already seeing the Rákóczi Museum or the waterfront. The mosque gives the city a deeper Ottoman layer and is a more substantial stop than the ordinary neighbourhood mosques found across the region.
