Shakhrisabz's attractions are concentrated in and around the old city centre, most of them relics of Timur's grand ambitions. The main sites can be covered in half a day at a comfortable pace, making the town well-suited to a day trip from Samarkand. The journey over the Takhta-Karacha Pass is itself worth the trip.
