Getting Around

The city centre around Xuân Hương Lake is walkable, but Dalat's steep hills and spread-out attractions make two wheels or four wheels useful for anything beyond the core. Grab operates in Dalat and is the most reliable option for point-to-point trips. Xe ôm (motorbike taxis) wait at the market and most tourist spots.

The most enjoyable way to see Dalat and its surroundings is with an Easy Rider — a term for the local motorbike guide culture that has been operating here since the early 1990s. These are independent guides who take visitors on the back of their motorbikes to waterfalls, minority villages, flower farms, and highland passes that would be inaccessible or merely expensive by car. A full-day tour costs around US$25–35; half-day options are available. Guides cluster near the central market and along Phan Đình Phùng street. Agree the route and price before leaving.

Motorbikes are available for self-rental from shops near the market if you're confident and have an international driving permit. The roads around Dalat reward self-exploration — the countryside opens up within 10km of the city in every direction.
