Getting There

Dalat is served by Lien Khuong Airport (DLI), 30km south of the city. Vietnam Airlines, VietJet, and Bamboo Airways all fly the route from Ho Chi Minh City (45 minutes); there are also direct flights from Hanoi and Da Nang. A taxi from the airport to the city centre takes about 40 minutes and costs around 200,000–250,000 VND; airport buses are cheaper but slower.

By road, Dalat is about 300km from Ho Chi Minh City — four hours on the new expressway via Phan Thiết. The older mountain road through Bảo Lộc is longer but spectacular in sections. Sleeper buses run overnight from Ho Chi Minh City's Pham Ngu Lao backpacker area and take around 7 hours; this is the cheapest option and works well if you don't mind arriving early. Open-tour buses also connect Dalat to Nha Trang (4 hours) and Mui Ne (5 hours).

There is no passenger train service directly to Dalat — the mountain railway from the coast was destroyed during the war and never rebuilt.
