The House of Folklore (Dar al-Funun al-Shabiya) occupies a traditional Sana'ani merchant's house, kept furnished and stocked as if its residents had just stepped out. Each floor is laid out by function — the storerooms at the bottom, the kitchen, the family rooms, the women's reception room, and at the very top the mafraj with its cushions and views over the city. The display includes tools, jewellery, weapons, traditional bridal dress, and the everyday objects of Yemeni life.
It is a small museum, but it gives a much better feel for how a tower house actually functions than the public exteriors alone, and it is in the new city not far from Tahrir Square.
