A handsome Victorian corner pub on Darling Street, the London is one of the survivors of Balmain's long pub tradition and one of the prettiest, with a wraparound upstairs balcony of iron lacework that catches the afternoon sun. The first-floor verandah is the place to be — a beer and a long lunch looking down over the village street.
It is an unhurried local rather than a destination drinking den, with a straightforward range of beers and decent pub food. A natural stop on a walk up Darling Street from the ferry.
