Bundaberg War Memorial

1922 Italian-marble digger statue in Buss Park, central Bourbong Street

The Bundaberg War Memorial in Buss Park is the standard town focal point: a bronze and Italian-marble First World War digger on a stepped granite plinth, unveiled in 1922. It is a heritage-listed example of a memorial form found in dozens of regional Australian towns but is more carefully done than most — the sculpture is by Italian carver Cesare Pietro Cagini, and the granite is Queensland.

ANZAC Day services are held here on 25 April. Five-minute stop while walking the Bourbong Street heritage trail.
