Getting Around

Once you are on the Springbrook plateau, a car remains necessary. The main attractions are spread along several kilometres of road, and the distances between car parks make walking from one to another impractical. Each major walk — Purling Brook Falls, Twin Falls Circuit, Best of All Lookout — has its own car park, signposted clearly from the main road.

The Natural Bridge section of the park is an entirely separate drive (see Getting There). You cannot walk between the two sections; budget extra time and driving if you want to cover both in the same day.

Within the national park, the walking tracks themselves are the main means of getting around. They are well-signposted, and trail maps are available at the park information boards in each car park. Most of the main walks are suitable for reasonably fit adults and older children; a few sections involve steep descents on slippery rock, and appropriate footwear matters. None of the main trails require specialist equipment.

Mobile coverage on the plateau is patchy to non-existent in some areas. Download offline maps before you leave, and make sure you have enough fuel — there is nowhere to buy petrol on the plateau itself.
