Eating Out

Springbrook is not a dining destination in the conventional sense — this is a village of a few hundred people on a rainforest plateau, not a restaurant strip. But the area has a small and pleasantly idiosyncratic food scene built around local produce. The plateau's altitude and rainfall make it good growing country: avocados, subtropical fruits, macadamias, and vegetables are all grown locally, and several farms operate roadside stalls.

The handful of cafes in Springbrook village serve the basics well: good coffee, solid breakfasts, and lunches that lean on local produce. Expect to be eating at simple tables, often outdoors. Most places close by mid-afternoon, and the village effectively shuts on weekday evenings. If you're staying overnight, plan your dinner provisions before you head up the mountain.

For a broader range of options, Mudgeeraba at the base of the escarpment is 20 minutes away and has a reasonable selection of cafes and takeaways.
