The old post office on Channon Street, built in 1880 in a restrained Victorian classical style with a colonnaded ground-floor verandah, is one of the oldest surviving public buildings in Gympie. It served as the town's main post office for over a century.
It now houses local-government offices but is worth a look from the street — particularly in combination with the nearby Lands Office and Court House, which together form one of the better-preserved 19th-century civic precincts in regional Queensland.
