Florence Bay is one of Magnetic Island's quieter east-coast coves, set between rounded granite headlands and backed by dry tropical bush. The water is usually clearer and calmer than the exposed mainland beaches, and the reef close to shore makes it a good place to bring a mask when conditions are right.
Access is part of the island experience: arrive by walking track, boat, or a careful drive on the rough road, then treat it as a simple beach stop rather than a serviced resort beach. There are no grand facilities, so bring water, sun protection, and an eye on tide and stinger-season advice.
