The Barossa Trail is a 26-kilometre multi-use path running between Gawler and Angaston through the heart of the wine region. It passes through Lyndoch, Tanunda and Nuriootpa, linking several major cellar doors and giving cyclists a genuinely car-free way to explore the valley. The trail is mostly flat to gently rolling and is suitable for families and beginners.
Bikes are available to rent in Tanunda, and it's easy to plot a route that stops at two or three wineries before cycling back. The full trail is too long for most visitors to cover in a day unless they are committed riders — the better approach is to pick a section, park the car at one end, and cycle out and back.
