Getting Around

A car is essential in the Flinders Ranges. The sealed road connects Quorn, Hawker, and Wilpena Pound. Beyond Wilpena, most tracks are unsealed and conditions can change rapidly after rain. The park roads around Bunyeroo Valley and through Brachina Gorge are generally accessible to two-wheel-drive vehicles in dry conditions, but check current conditions with the ranger station at Wilpena before venturing off the main road.

Wilpena Pound Resort operates guided tours by vehicle to various points in the national park. Scenic flights operate from the airstrip at Hawker. There is no public transport into the ranges.

Fuel is available at Quorn, Hawker, Blinman, and Wilpena Resort. Carry extra fuel and water on any extended drive into the northern Flinders — distances between services are large and help is not quickly available.
