Strawberry Fields Wetlands

Wetland reserve and birding spot on the southern edge of town

Strawberry Fields is a 60-hectare wetland reserve created out of a former farm on the southern edge of Cobram. A circuit of paths and boardwalks loops through lagoons, reed beds and remnant red gum, and the bird list runs to over 100 species — herons, spoonbills, ibises, and a healthy population of wood ducks.

The walks are flat and well-signed; the full loop takes about an hour and a half. Dawn and dusk are the best times for birding, and it's a useful counterpoint to a beach-and-river day.
