Kabbarli Lookout

Coastal lookout at Gantheaume Point named for writer Daisy Bates.

Kabbarli Lookout gives one of Broome's strong coastal views, with red pindan cliffs, turquoise water and the wide Indian Ocean horizon around Gantheaume Point. The name honours Daisy Bates, known locally by the Aboriginal name Kabbarli, adding a layer of complicated colonial history to the scenery.

It is an easy add-on to Gantheaume Point rather than a separate expedition. Go when the light is low and the colours are doing their work; midday heat flattens both the view and your enthusiasm.
