Observatory Point is a lookout on the coastal road west of Esperance, with broad views over the shore, the Southern Ocean, and the islands of the Recherche Archipelago. The view is especially good toward Observatory Island, where French ships sheltered in 1792.
It is a natural stop on the Great Ocean Drive loop, particularly if you are linking the beaches west of town. Bring a jacket if the wind is up; the exposed headland is part of the point.
