The best beaches sit west of town inside or near Cape Range National Park. Turquoise Bay is the famous one, with clear water and drift snorkelling when conditions are right. Oyster Stacks is more tide-dependent and less forgiving underfoot, but the coral access can be excellent.
Town Beach is easier for a quick swim or sunset stroll, though it is not the reason to travel this far. Always check local advice on currents, tides, and seasonal wildlife before entering the water.
