Jurien Bay

Coral Coast fishing town with sea lions, white beaches, wildflowers, and easy marine-park access.

Jurien Bay is a fishing and holiday town on Western Australia's Coral Coast, about 220 km north of Perth. It still has a working crayfish industry, but travellers come for the water: pale sand, clear lagoons, sea-lion tours, and the protected reefs of Jurien Bay Marine Park.

The town makes an easy base for a day or two because the good things are varied. You can fish from the jetty, snorkel or dive the marine park, drive north to Sandy Cape, or go inland to Lesueur National Park, one of the state's great wildflower areas.

Jurien Bay is not as famous as the Pinnacles near Cervantes, but it is less of a single-stop attraction. If you are driving Indian Ocean Drive, this is the better place to slow down, get on the water, and let the coast earn its name.

Beaches

The coast around Jurien Bay is the draw: white sand, clear water, sheltered coves, and reefs close enough for easy snorkelling when conditions are calm. Sandy Cape is the prettiest nearby beach outing, while the town foreshore and jetty are the simplest places for a swim or sunset walk.

Things to Do

Jurien Bay's best sights are outdoors: marine park, beach coves, coastal trails, and wildflower country. A car helps, though the jetty and foreshore are easy on foot from the town centre.
