Leederville is a small inner suburb immediately north of Northbridge, and its main attraction is a single strip: Oxford Street, lined with cafes, restaurants, a cinema (Luna on SX), bars, and the kind of independently-owned businesses that give a neighbourhood its character. It is considerably smaller and quieter than Northbridge but draws a loyal local following who prefer it precisely because it is not Northbridge — less crowded, less loud, more neighbourhood-feeling. Weekend brunch on Oxford Street is a serious Perth institution.
The café scene here is genuinely good, with several of Perth's better specialty coffee shops operating out of Oxford Street and the surrounding blocks. The Leederville Hotel anchors one end of the strip and is a reliable choice for a drink in the beer garden. Leederville is walkable from Northbridge and an easy train ride from Perth station; the suburb is small enough that there is no risk of getting lost. If you are staying somewhere nearby and want a morning coffee and walk before tackling the city or Northbridge, Leederville delivers this in unpretentious style.
