The Sabeto Hot Springs sit in the Sabeto Valley about 20 km south of Lautoka, between the highway and the Sabeto mountain range. The springs feed a series of shallow pools — some hot enough to be uncomfortable, others pleasantly warm — and a set of therapeutic mud pools where visitors can coat themselves in grey volcanic mud, let it dry in the sun, then rinse off in the adjacent cool pool.
The attraction is genuinely popular with Fijian families as well as tourists, which gives it a more local feel than the resort spas. Access costs a small fee and there are basic changing facilities. Often combined with a stop at the Sleeping Giant Orchid Garden (Garden of the Sleeping Giant) 3 km away, which holds one of the largest collections of tropical orchids in the Pacific.
