When to Go

The Fijian dry season runs roughly May to October — cooler (24–28°C), drier, sunnier, and much less humid. This is the high season for travel and the best time for the islands. The Australian and New Zealand school holidays in late June-July and again in September push prices up and resorts get crowded.

The wet season, November to April, brings high humidity, heavy short rain showers (often in the afternoon), and the cyclone risk window (peak January-February). Many people still travel through it — the weather is rarely a complete write-off — but the price you pay for cheaper rates and fewer crowds is the occasional washed-out day. Nadi sits on the dry side of Viti Levu and gets noticeably less rain than the Suva coast in either season.
